YOUR DEPARTURE TIME MAY BE CHANGED ALSO, FIRST GROUP AT 7:00 IS THE EASIEST ONE TO GET IN.
SECOND GROUP AT 9:00 IS THE HARDEST WITH MORE CANCELATIONS SPECIALLY IN PEAK SEASON LIKE THANKSGIVING, CHRISTMAS AND EASTER. WE RARELY DO AFTERNOON TOURS, SPECIALLY IN JANUARY AND FEBRUARY IS TOO WINDY IN THE AFTERNOONS FOR A SAFE AND COMFORTABLE BOAT RIDE. PLEASE MODERATE EXPECTATIONS AND BE FLEXIBLE AS WEATHER COULD ALSO BE A FACTOR REQUIRING RESCHEDULING.
What to expect
🤿 Get ready for an adventure
Your guide will meet you at Marina La Paz and lead you to the boat, where you’ll be fitted with premium snorkel gear—mask, snorkel, fins, and wetsuit—so you can dive in with style. Life vests are optional in the water (because you’re brave!) but required during the boat ride. Safety first!
🛥️ Your way to the shark zone
As we cruise through the whale shark zone, our friendly captain will guide the way while your knowledgeable guide fills you in on fun facts about whale sharks and how to make the most of your experience—all while keeping the environment (and the sharks) happy. Plus, expect a few dad jokes along the way—our guides love to entertain!
📸 Time to jump in!
After locating a whale shark, the guide will organise jumps in very small groups, with only 2 people in the water at a time, respecting the distance to not disturb the whale sharks. It is quite an experience to swim along with them and enjoy the view of these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.
Your guide will swim alongside you and capture the magic in photos and video, so no need to worry about missing a moment.
🏊 How long can you hang with the sharks?
The activity is limited by regulation to 2 hours in the whale shark area, plus the boat ride to get to them, time can vary depending how far away the animals are, water time depends on conditions, your personal fitness and how many guests are on the boat. We will do our best so you get multiple opportunities to jump and snorkel with the biggest fish in the world.
Whether you’re gliding along or just taking it easy, there’s plenty of fun to be had with these gentle giants—no matter your pace!
Important notes
Please note: The activity is restricted to people with no cardiac history or back/neck problems or pregnant woman. Minimum age to snorkel with whale sharks is 5 years old. You must sign a liability release prior the activity. Some experience snorkeling is recommended. Infants and children under 5 years old only welcome on private tours.
- DEPARTURE TIME: 7 AM // 9:00 AM (can be changed due to boat logistics)
- RETURN TIME aproximately : 10:30 AM // 12:30 PM (not written on stone!)
- DRESS CODE: recommended to dress in layers and wear a bathing suit under your clothes.
